On Friday I collected my Mini Marcos MK6 bodyshell with Stage 3 build kit from Marcos Heritage Spares. I plan to complete the build over the next 4 months.

In 1981 at the age of 21 I bought my first Mini Marcos from D&H Fibreglass Techniques (DH8428 ). This was one of the last MK4 bodyshells to be made.  It was my daily driver for a couple of years but regretfully sold it after 5 years.

Looking forward to doing the build process again 39 years later and of course driving a Mini Marcos again!

Look forward to seeing this progress. I strongly recommend downloading the IVA manual now and reading it front to back then build the car with the manual at hand. There are a couple of bits that will be challenging to meet the requirements but not insurmountable. I build a car (not a Marcos) that passed the IVA in 2018, I'm happy for you to pick my brains but I will say expect it to fail first time but at least then you have a list.
Good luck mike

Best of luck with the build,

Check out this link, it's for one of the first MkVI shell builds. Done in Japan in 2005, it photos of a GT build and a road car with a Mini Mpi engine.

Hi,

I built one of the more recent MK6 cars, took me a few years to get it on the road, but it's there now (though not going anywhere this year, with the pandemic).

I have a long thread here with various stuff I went through building it. Out of curiousity, which body shell number is yours? I'm #6...

Mike - I agree I am expecting the  IVA process to be a challenge. I read it through when placing the order for the shell a few months ago, but need to re-read before I start the build. The Marcos Build Manual also highlights a couple of areas for attention to get through the IVA process.

Neil - Thanks for the build link. Some of those photos will be really useful for my reference during the build.

Brian - Will review your thread. Thanks. My Bodyshell is number 12.

I think Graham used an mgf steering column but his build thread will be worth a read. He's made it to IVA but not passed it yet (mainly due to engine tune issues).

Mine was built in 2013 as #6, so I guess they're cranking them out at almost 1/year...

Liking that colour Steve!  Will follow your build with interest.

IVA is a challenge (I've found), but mostly now self inflicted (fuel injection) and at least you'll know it's built properly.

The IVA criteria has changed here and there throughout since my build started (just after the ark landed on dry land) so worth a re-read perhaps.

Good luck and keep posting the updates
