15000 euro seems cheap for a fully built and sorted race car of this type. |

Silly money.
30.000 ¤ buys you a sorted 997 GT Porsche. 10.000 ¤ a race ready Ginetta
I bought my 155 V6 race car at a fraction of this, stil going strong after 4 years a track time.
I still state : if you make a race car , be prepared to lose 4/5 of what you put into it.
That said : I still am looking for a Marcos shell to make a race car........
When you love it , don't count ! |

I agree somewhat, but you need to consider the rarity factor as well. 997's are ten a penny in comparison to a Mini Marcos(in Europe). That's assuming your looking for a true classic sports race car as opposed to a common factory built car. You also need to consider local market values. A 997 race car in NZ would cost you $125-150,000NZD as they are rare and exclusive. Whilst an ex V8 super car would cost 30K becuase theres 60+ a year being built for the last 20 years, yet Ive seen ex Aussie V8 supercars for sale in the UK for 30K in pounds.
But for a Marcos with good certified history, sorted with data and local support is cheap at 15k Euro, as it would cost 4 times that to build and develop.
But Ill take that Ginetta for 10K if you have one ready to go with spares, but you can keep the Alfa LOL |

Well actually the Ginetta was bought at that kind of money by a friend of mine. G27 fixed head, 24 wheels , no further spares
Nice car though, bit of work onthe GRP but hey all GRP race cars have work on them......
The alfa took me to a second spot in Class 1 Sprint Cup Zolder in 2005, so that ain't too bad either. |

My last time out at sprint meeting I was driving past the Alfa and Fiat 2L twin cams, and a couple of 2L RS Fords and giving the owners one hell of a shock. Mind you Im lighter and its a short tight circuit. It would be a different story I think on a circuit with long straights which test the top end of my rev range.
as to work on the GPR...that's the expensive bit to do LOL |
